Setting up your wireless antenna is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
Note: Not all systems come with an external wireless antenna. To confirm if your build includes a wireless antenna, check your accessory bag. You can also contact our support team at anytime.
Confirm Your System Has a Wireless Antenna
Before you begin, confirm that your system has a wireless antenna. On the back of your system, identify the two antenna outputs. These are typically a gold color, and may be marked with "Wi-Fi" or something similar.
After you've confirmed your system has a wireless antenna, identify and locate your wireless antenna. This should be located in your accessory bag, included with your PC.
Take one of the antennas and align its connector with the Wi-Fi port on the motherboard. Gently screw the antenna clockwise until it is securely fastened. Do not over-tighten as this could damage the port or the antenna. If you have multiple antennas, repeat the process for the remaining ports.
Proper antenna positioning is crucial for optimal signal reception. The base of your wireless receiver may have a magnetic base, so place the antenna on the top of your case, ensuring the antenna is not obstructed by large metal objects or placed near interference sources like microwaves or cordless phones.
Access the network settings to connect to your Wi-Fi network. For Windows, this can be found in the taskbar’s network icon or through the Control Panel. Select your wireless network and click Connect. You are now ready to go wireless!
If you encounter connectivity issues:
Make sure your Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. Visit the motherboard manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers.
Ensure the antennas are securely attached.
Sometimes adjusting the position of the antennas can enhance signal strength.
By following these steps, you can efficiently set up and optimize your wireless antennas, ensuring a stable and strong Wi-Fi connection for your custom PC.
